The first new collection will focus on new surface treatments that will create the feeling of antiquity. The mouldings will be timeless and classic. FrameMica’s manufacturing process will assure that the mouldings are easy to work with and will represent great value.

In January of this year, Carolyn Kinder was recipient of the ART Academy of Achievement Award from the Accessories Resource Team, and award which honors lifetime achievement in the decorative accessories industry. She currently designs coordinated accessories, including lighting, wall décor and furniture under licensing agreements with a number of leading U.S. companies. Her present company, Carolyn Kinder, Inc., is located in Clearwater, Florida.

Kinder was the founder of Kinder-Harris, a company that Kinder says was built by its predominantly female workforce in Arkansas. During 1987, JC Penney company invested in her company. Through this step, Carolyn became interested in serving a more broad range of consumers served by mass marketers and chain stores, bringing quality design to the popular market.

Kinder started her career as a self-taught artist, encouraged by her neighbors and friends, who would babysit for her children in exchange for art work while she took art lessons. She eventually taught classes to friends and started an art studio and frame shop in her first venture, The Art Place. As her business ventures grew, she began importing mouldings that were designed by her, produced in Italy, and distributed in the U.S., first by her own sales force and later by major U.S. and International distributors.

FrameMica Corp. is a leading manufacturer of laminate mouldings for the OEM and custom frame markets. FrameMica’s founders invented mica frames and FrameMica is the industry leader in the development of laminates for the framing industry.
